With few exceptions, Thassos is the best Island to visit in Greece. It truely is Greece's best kept secret. Let us give you some of the reasons you should visit Thassos.
- Thassos is a green island, giving it another name, "The Emerald Island". Trees grow all around the island, from the top of the mountains to the sandy shores. This you will not find on the other islands.
- Thassos has it's own fresh water. Most of the other islands have their water brought in from the mainland. You will find that in the village of Panagia , the water running from the mountain springs is the best on the island. Clear, cold and tastes great.
- The water surrounding the island is clear, the beaches clean and the sun is bright.

- Thassos still retains its Greek culture. Here, you still have all the traditions of Greece and not the imported culture and traditions from other countries. You will experience the real Greece. Come eat what the Greeks eat. Drink what the Greeks drink and dance the way the Greeks dance.
- Thassos, itself is full of history and archaeological sites. In fact, in the city of Limenas (Thassos Town), there are archaeological sites all through the city.
- Thassos is only one hour fifteen minutes away from the mainland of Greece if you take the ferry from Skala Prinos and only half an hour away if you take the ferry from Thassos Town .
- Thassos is located in Macedonia, an area of Greece that is rich with history and archeological treasures. The Natural Beauty of this area is breath taking. From Thassos, you can easily take day trips and see some of these wonderfully historic places. The city of Kavala was first settled by the Thasians as a colony 700 BC and then named Neapoli. Later in the 8th-9th century AD it would be renamed to Christoupoli and again in the 16th century would be renamed Kavala , its present day name. The beauty of this city is a must see.  Ruins of the ancient city Philippi | - Visit the ruins of Philippi (Filippi) and try to imagine the battle that took place near there between Mark Anthony and Brutus (42 BC) of the Roman Empire. Walk on portions of the ancient Roman Road (Via Egnatia) that these two armies also walked on and later the Apostle Paul as well. - Visit the village of Lydia (1 km from Philippi) where the Apostle baptized many Christians during his 2nd journey 49-52 AD and again on his 3rd journey between 53-57 AD. While there, you can visit the Healing Mud Baths of Lydia as well.
