Thassos Webcam - Golden Beach/Skala Panagia & Golden Coast/Skala Potamia
Located in the northern Aegean Sea of Greece, the island of Thassos is truly one of Greece's best kept secrets. Our Thassos webcam project began in 2008 in order to bring to you, no matter where you are in the world, this remarkable piece of paradise on Earth. In June of 2011, a strong storm knocked-out our old camera, and exactly 1 month after its death, we replaced it with an even better one. Now you can see Thassos in wide-screen streaming video... and it can't get much better than that! We hope you enjoy the experience of watching this beautiful and extraordinary place, our little paradise, known as the Greek island of Thassos. Thanks for visiting and please take a moment to visit the webcam sponsors (displayed below the webcam video) who have contributed to making this camera possible, and give thanks for their continual support so that you may always have a window looking in.

Sounds like Thassos is your 1st home rather than your second, yes we too get about like you and have visited pretty much the same as you, the only difference being is that last time these visits felt fleeting, so this time we will spend more time in places, we will be flying from Birmingham on the 30th so who knows, happy hols.

Hi

A question regarding the ferry, does everyone manage to get on the first ferry or is there a wait. Not that I mind sitting in a bar waiting just wondered whether it got full.

Thanks in advance

Jackie

Graham and Jane, we too will be heading to Thassos on the 30th! We were hooked the first time we visited Thassos and have managed to return every year since! Over the years we have discovered new places and things to do. Have you gone to Theologos at all? There is a very pleasant walk that goes behind the village from the church, over the bridge and brings you up behind a second church at the other end of the village. The market in Prinos on a Monday morning. The historical sites in and around Thassos Town, including the old amphitheatre they are repairing, the museum and the talk covering the histoey of Thassos in the old harbour, given by the author, Tony Oswin- there is an accompanying book, the A-z of Thassos. we have also walked around the coastal route from Golden Beach to Thassos Town, leaving at 5.00am whilst it's still dark and reaching Thassos Town in time to have breakfast before catching the Taxi boat back to Golden Beach. The Olive Oil museum in Panagia. These are just some of the activities we have enjoyed over the years and have visited most of the mountain villages too. we try to follow some of the walks around Thassos that lead out from most of the villages. We really enjoy our visits to Thasos and never fail to return home relaxed. If you do visit golden beach and come across the Emerald/smaragdi (up the hill) opposite The fedra, pop in and say hi! Who knows may see you on the journey over, have a great holiday!

Hi HollySammy

We have been to many of the Greek Islands and only discovered Thassos last year, we stayed in Skala Rachoni and are going back this year on June 30th ( Not long now ),we love the laid back type holiday and of all the Islands, Thassos left such an impression that it was a no brainer to go back, we like to get out and about and spend a day at different resorts, Golden Beach is a stunner and we will certainly be spending some time there during our holiday, as we have said Kavala is a bustling city but well worth the visit, on any holiday there is always something to discover, have you any tips / experience whilst you have holidayed over the years in Thassos, that we may not know about as we'd love to know.

Graham and Jane, many thanks for the advice, we are definitely going to do this trip this time, as we have been saying for the last 4 years that we should. Flying out on Monday, cannot wait to return to our favorite island. smilies/grin.gifsmilies/grin.gif
