Rest assured we have not forgotten!

We've been delaying it over the last few months due to the wet wintery weather. Now that it's spring and it is becoming dryer by the day, we hope to get up there and solve the problem very soon, and hopefully get it moving and zooming again. (wish us luck!)

Any news on the web cam situation missing all the close up shots of golden beach.

I go by many in Thassos and go camping Daedalos Skala Sotiras. There are excellent and I regret that I can't stand than a maximum of three weeks and you can't not get friendly with Kostas that is a super friendly and very nice!

We stayed in Golden Beach late September and also walked through the camp site. They were renovating the toilets and shower blocks so I would think they will be open this year. Roll on June.

It is lovely to see the sun shining over Thassos whilst it's cold,snowy,wet and windy here in England.It helps us look forward to our holidays on the island again!!!We just love to come there,we shall be there 8 weeks on sunday and can't wait Thank you to the Thassos team for giving us this pleasure especially when the weather is so cold and miserable here

My wife and I have always enjoyed cutting through the campsite at Golden Beach but saw last summer (late June-early July) that the camp was very much under-utilised compared with previous years. I think the camp shop was closed. Someone told us that the owners were looking to close the camp altogether. Is that the case?

Thanks Adilee for the advice but my husband wont drive abroad so that rules that out. Shame as Tomson want a mint for us to go. We have stayed at George before in Golden Beach and before that Dimitris but both dropped by Thomson. So many of the smaller places we used to go to on other islands have gone we also went loads of times with Kosmar.

Helen B, you can do it independently and easily save £200-£300. We are doing it this year flying from Manchester to Thessaloniki, hiring a car and driving to Keramoti for the ferry to Thassos. We have booked direct with an owner we found on this site, and still paid a lot less than the £1007 that Thomsons wanted and we have an apartment instead of a studio and a car for 2 weeks, so it's definitely worth looking into.

Hi Brian and Janet-- the Yorkshire couple are Christine and Alan. All being well, they are hoping to get over to Thassos later this year, fishing gear to hand!!!

Sue and Mac are you the couple from Yorkshire who stay in Serendipity for a few months (April-June)each year? We usually see you eating the fish you caught that day in Musses in the evenings but didn,t see you last June when we arrived on 23rd for two weeks.

Oh doear that snow matches ours here in the Cotswolds today. Anyone know of any deals to Thassos as the big boys all seem so expensive to go with. Im sure when we went 3 years ago we had a better deal.

Wendy, we haven't chosen one yet, but will use either Potos or argus. Potos have offices on Thassos and argus have had some very good feedback, will let you know when we decide.

We shall be flying to Thessoloniki at the end of April and have booked a car with Potos Car Rental. We shall be staying in Thassos Town at the Serendipity Apartment and enjoying beautiful views across the bay! It's even marked on Google Earth!

Just enjoyed a lovely home made kleftico, only just over 13 weeks till we can have a proper Greek one.

Wendy, we are hiring a car at Thessaloniki airport and driving to the ferry at Keramoti, but there are other options such as catching a bus or getting a taxi, I feel the car hire option is better for us.

Alan, do not worry. There you will find everything for a perfect holiday - crystal clear sea, sandy beach, a forest near the beach, cozy tavernas with excellent food, welcoming hotels. You just have to watch out for sea urchins.

We have not stayed in Rachoni but we have spent time on Pachis beach which is very nice

hi, skala rachoni is certainly a lot quieter but has some advantages. your on the west side so the sunsets are amazing. some nice tavernas, vikkis. gekkas, and olgas, (greek night thursdays).vikkis taverna right on the beach further down the lane.michael the owner is a very nice guy, great food and very inexpensive. small supermarket beside gekkas. the biggest supermarket on the island is about half a mile away. loutouris.great weekly bbq and quiz at hotel zafira ( not to be missed ) and prob the best accomodation in skala rachoni in my opinion. nice pool right on the beach. dimitris and his sister zaffi will make all welcome.next village along is skala prinos, you can get the ferry there over to kavala if toy fancy a day out. there are some other tavernas and beach bars but i think i have highlighted the best. regards, vinnie

Friday morning, home after a gruelling 12 hour night shift, logged on to a fantastic, sunny view of Golden Beach, Result went off for a peaceful sleep dreaming that I was laid on the beach, in the sun. Only 15 weeks left to wait.

Wow!! First time that we've seen lightning on the webcam. bad storm? I think the camera shook!

We like to walk Sandra, most eveings we eat at Finikas and call into the Agean for a drink on the way back. Can't wait'

Sounds like a plan Wendy. I agree the hill is a nightmare! We used to walk along the beach right up to Scala Potamias and then get a taxi back to the hotel at night (only 5 euros).
