Skala Prinos, Thassos
Click Here to plan your trip to Skala Prinos
Located on the Northwest coast of Thassos lies the major port town of Skala Prinos. This town is the second ferry port of Thassos after that of Thassos Town, and it connects to the city of Kavala and to the town of Nea Peramos on the mainland via ferry boat and hydrofoil. The town is small and mainly consists of homes and businesses stretching along the coastline. Most of the businesses here are tourist- based and many of the locals come from the village of Prinos. Skala Prinos is located about 17 kilometres from Thassos Town and about 24 kilometres from Limenaria . Skala Rachoni is its neighboring coastal town on the North side of the island that is less than 5 kilometres away.

Skala Prinos is surrounded by several long and sandy beaches. The beaches are shallow in most parts and the water is normally calm. The water is clean and the view of the mainland across from the sea is amazing on clear days. Two of the beaches here have been awarded a Blue Flag.

A short walk from the port you will find a small shipyard. Here you can see the works of building and servicing of small to medium size ships done with traditional methods.

Skala Prinos is a place one may conveniently come to right from the port of Kavala. It has everything you would need such as accommodations, restaurants, tavernas, snack bars, cafes, shops, car rental agencies, a bank teller machine, gas station and more. There are taxis always available as well as a bus stop where you can catch a bus to almost anywhere else on Thassos. The bus routes run multiple times a day especially during the high tourist season. You will find that it is easy to get to where you want from here.

Like most of the West coast of the island, Skala Prinos is priveleged with spectacular sunsets especially during the Summer season. It is a beautiful thing to watch the sun slowly fall behind the mountains far in the horizon of mainland Greece, as scattered clouds create different colors in the evening sky. It's perfect to watch while dining out next to the sea and it creates a romantic setting for those who desire it. Eating delicious food with the sound of the waves and a marvelous light show in the sky is one thing that the quiet evenings in Skala Prinos can offer.

Anca,

Villa Iris is not a new hotel but it was newly refurnished during the last few years.

Calle,

The strike may or may not affect you, it's best to ask the companies with whom you are traveling for this information.

Hi Lajos,

Hotel Artemis is located just metres from a beautiful sandy beach which also has some small, smooth pebbles. It's organized and well taken care of, with a beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, and various things for entertainment. You will have no problem finding super markets, shops and restaurants nearby at the ferry port as well as in the Dasillio area (opposite direction of the ferry port).

Have a safe journey and enjoy our beautiful island!

Hi Neli,

Ferry service from Nea Peramos was discontinued 2 years ago. The only options are Kavala to Skala Prinos and Keramoti to Limenas.

Hi Ruxandra,

You can reach the Port Authorities at these numbers:

Skala Prinos: +30 25930 22106
Limenas: +30 25930 22106

Thassos island is an incredible place for sailing! The winds are usually strongest in August.
